heya just found your site randomly while looking through dannychoo's portal lol
Gotta say great photos you have on your site. I just recently got into photography and went with a Canon rebel xt as a starter. Started at the beginning of this year, but honestly I haven't been shooting as much as I'd like to. Whenever I do shoot though, sometimes I just can't quite seem to get the results that I want. I guess that's the kind of stuff that can only be learned through experience and practice. Hope you don't mind if I ever have any photo taking questions if I come over and ask you! haha

Hey Jill, to be honest, usually the prices here in Japan are not cheaper than other parts of the world (or the internet). The cameras come here first but in general are more expensive (compared to the USA anyway). If you want to buy a camera here I would recommend a store like Yamada Denki or Yodobashi Camera where you can get a point card and get money towards a future purchase (usually 10-15%). For example if you buy a camera for 50,000 yen and you get 15% points you would get 7500 yen that can be used towards your next purchase (for example memory card or extra battery). Hope that helps and make sense!

Same here, just discovered your site as I was browsing for photo stores in Japan. Anyway, if it's not too much to ask, I'd like to ask some tips on where I could buy cheaper photo equipments/accessories in Japan. I heard there are a lot of photo stores in Shinjiku (Did I get the name right?) I'm planning to visit Japan soon, and I'd like to include the visiting and even shopping in the places that you will be suggesting in my itinerary.

And also, I'm planning to switch from a Canon 400D to a sturdier 5d/1d. Where do you think I can get a cheaper camera body in Japan? Thanks. Hope to hear from you soon. You can just email me at the address I included above. Thanks again.

Hey Andrew, thanks for stopping by and sorry about responding so late, somehow I missed your comment... Also, thanks for the kind words! To answer your question about Kinkakuji, I went there really early, and went it just as it opened (which I think is 830, but I could be wrong about that) and there were a few people there and one of those huge tour groups, but after waiting a few minutes everyone was gone (well from my frame at least)! I found that most places in Kyoto will be somewhat vacant early in the mornings (especially on weekdays)! Not sure if i will ever make it to Gifu or not, but I will let you know if I do!

Just discovered your site, and it's great. You've obviously put a lot of work into it.

And your images are excellent. (How did you get that one of Kinkakuji without all the people?)

I am a permanent resident of Kani City in Gifu prefecture. If you're ever in the area, please let me know. I'd like to meet you.
