My Mom makes a super tonkatsu. Not sure if she just adds Mom's love, but having been spoiled to restaurant Japanese food by a Japanese Mom, I vote that my Mom makes killer tonkatsu. It is easy to make. And katsu don is also a yummy variation on it. My comfort food. A mother’s tonkatsu (if she can cook) is the best. My Mom makes a super tonkatsu. I've got a 'pointo cardo' for the local Saboten in Ebisu. However the best I've had is at the restaurant in the complex beside Tokyo Station that houses the Maruzen bookshop. I can't think of the name, but I'm sure you know the place, big, new shiny with lots of shops and 2 floors of restaurants. It's perfect, go the Maruzen and spend a couple of hours browsing the huge English language section there, then head upstairs to the Tonkatsu place. Sorry to hear you are leaving by the way.
