I was in Sendai with the 545th Miltary Police back in the mid 1950s, and had taken slide photos of the Star Festival very similar to these. Sendai is a wonderful place - the people are friendly, the city has beautiful places, and it was a highlight of my life to date.
We were so fortunate to have some wonderful local people working with us - mechanics, a barber, a tailor, a carpenter, etc.. They were just great! And the local police that we patrolled with were some of the best in the world.
Matsushima is another real delight. I went there several times and came away with fantastic memories from each visit.
